State's Rights Granted by the Constitution

This is an interesting topic and a timely one. The right's of the states granted by the Constitution still remains the topic of debate with many politicians and citizens of the United States. It is one of the most hotly debated topics to this day and there is still more work to be done. The states feel that they deserve more power and the government is watching over the state's shoulders to see that it is kept in check.

In the seventeen and eighteen hundreds, the states rights were developed so that the state could act as its own unit and be independent of the government and have their own rights. Around the time of the American Civil War, each of the states thought that they should have a complete say in their own decisions. The states wanted to reduce the power of the federal government. The supporters of the states rights wanted greater trust and power in the authorities of the states because they would be more responsive to the issues and problems of each individual state. The issues and problems were different in each region, so the laws and regulations would be from their own region to solve their local issues. The individual states should be able to protect their individual rights.

The Tenth Amendment to the Constitution clearly says that the states have the rights to have the power to do what the federal government has not delegated the states to do. The states want their own rights to protect their own citizens. The federal government can and should not interfere with this.
