Governmental Involvement in Private Business

Government has long had its say as to what goes on in private business. This consists of taxes placed on private businesses, and zoning laws explaining where you can have a certain type of business and under what conditions. They are also able to tell you if you can have smokers in your workplace or ban it inside your business altogether. Government sets the minimum wage standard rate and is able to raise it at will at any time.

The minimum wage is set as the least amount of money an employee can be paid hourly for the work they were hired to do. Some say that it helps workers not get abused, while others say that it raises inflation. Minimum wage laws do vary depending on where you live.

A smoking ban was established by government in response to the public's constant criticism over their health. No smoking signs are seen on most restaurants and public forms of transportation available in the United States. If you choose to ignore the signs, you could face losing your job if you light up at work, fines and jail time and be criminally prosecuted. Some people say this is a violation of the right to free will and choice, others say that it is a violation of their free air and their choice to remain free from smoke in public places.

According to the IRS website, if you buy a hybrid vehicle you will get alternative motor vehicle credit. This not only applies to the purchaser, but there are also benefits for the business that sold it to you as well.

If you are considered an abusive shelter, there are many tax credits that you are able to get as well. The list is endless.
